Commercial real estate giant Newmark Knight Frank asked FPE to provide a unifying design for the public corridors and elevator vestibules at 200 Varick Street. FPE used color and non- linear geometry to visually break up the previously monolithic expanse of the 200 foot long corridor. The sweeping arcs of the marmoleum flooring intersect to create unique shapes that give a human scale to the corridor, while the three-color palette enlivens the space. These colors work in tandem with the wall colors to produce a shifting, asymmetrical color balance, which helps draw people through the space and around turns in the corridor.
