Greenwich Village Apartment

This home was FPE’s third collaboration with this client, and the goal was to accommodate his growing family. A relatively deep loft space limited natural light within the apartment, presenting the project’s major design challenge. FPE’s solution was to create an organizing corridor defined by a unique stepped wall, fitted with translucent panels. The steps define the rooms within and the panels allow light to penetrate deep into the apartment. At night, the effect is reversed, and the bedrooms emit the glow of light fixtures when occupied.
