Wilbraham Penthouse

New York, New York

FPE Architects combined and transformed two small vacant apartments into a three-bedroom penthouse suite with landscaped terrace. The site was atop the Wilbraham, a Landmark Romanesque-style building designed by David & John Jardin Architects in the late 19th century. The contemporary interior is sleek and warm. Existing small windows were replaced and enlarged, opening up and brightening the space. The choice of white oak flooring, doors and trim complements and reflects this natural light. A thirty-five foot translucent vaulted- skylight was inserted, washing the gallery wall in the living space with natural, filtered light.
